Mowing

Innovation Zoysia’s summer mowing heights range from 0.5 to 1.5 inches. Never remove more than 1/3 the leaf blades when mowing in summer. You can stress your grass by removing more than 1/3 of the leaf blade at a time. Your grass may become brown quickly.

Higher blades offer more shade to your root system, which helps it stay cool and retain water during hot summer days. You may need to mow the grass multiple times if you’re returning from vacation. Between each mow, wait three to five days.

Watering

Don’t overwater your grass. Innovation needs approximately one inch of water per week. Water should be used for longer periods, less often and in the morning. Rainfall should be taken into account.

FERTILIZATION

You can achieve the best results by feeding your lawn every other month during summer, using Lawnifi’s summer fertilizer box or applying Lawnifi Foundation at least once every three months.

WEED CONTROL

Applying an herbicide during this time is not recommended. The herbicide can cause severe damage to the grass if temperatures rise above 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

You should be aware of common weeds such as crabgrass, goosegrass and dallisgrass.

INSECT CONTROL

Control any white grubs. To prevent grubworms, apply Merit 0.5G and Scotts GrubEx or Dylox 6.2.2 to address them. To aid soil absorption, apply granular varieties to the lawn.

Calculate the watering to your weekly watering amount. Because they are small, August is the best month to control them. Mole crickets, billbugs, and spittlebugs are other insects to watch out for.

FUNGUS CONTROL

Innovation is not at risk of becoming a major disease outbreak. If you need to treat the problem, use Heritage broad-spectrum antifungal. To aid soil absorption, apply granular fungicides immediately to the lawn.
