Zoysia Sod Grass For Sale Alabama Florida

A lawn that has been treated with Zoysia grass will soon become a lush, natural-looking green yard. Zoysia grass, a native Asian plant, is known for its soft appearance and emerald-green color. Many homeowners choose it as a preferred choice.

There are many varieties of Zoysia sod, including marvel, meyer and el toro. Each variety has a unique look. Zoysia is easy to grow into a beautiful lawn in the spring.

These are some tips to maintain a manicured yard with Zoysia sod.

Watering your Zoysia Sod

Water is essential for plants to thrive. Make sure to water your sod regularly. It is important to keep the soil moist after the sod installation has been completed. This will allow the grass seeds to germinate within the soil.

After the sod has established roots in the ground, it is no longer necessary to water it. Water the grass only when the blades start to wilt. In the long-term, a Zoysia patch should get around 1 inch of water per week. This depends on the weather conditions and the temperature. To maintain your garden during the dry months, you can use a sprinkler system.

Commonly Mowing the Lawn

Once the Zoysia sod is fully established in the soil, you should wait for it to reach a height of around 2 inches per blade. This is the best time to mow your new lawn. Trim the grass to a height of about 1-2 inches.

Mowing a Zoysia lawn should take place between 5-15 days depending on weather conditions and fertilization frequency. Make sure you don’t start mowing before the soil has fully set. You could accidentally tear out seedlings in the soil, which can lead to bald patches.

Fertilize Quarterly

Feeding your lawn is essential for a green lawn. You should fertilize your lawn at least 3-4 times a year, beginning in late spring and continuing through late fall.

However, don’t overdo it. Overfertilizing grass can cause it to grow too fast, which can lead to unnecessary landscaping work. Zoysia grass usually requires 1 to 2 pounds of fertilizer for every 1,000 square feet each year.
